Arcanists spend countless hours researching, reading, studying and documenting the world around them in an effort to influence magic using arcane formulae, weaving magic into written scrolls and constructing items to store and channel magical energies.
These scholars typically train as apprentices for many years before they’re allowed to experiment, research and develop independently.
Binding the energies of magic through these means disrupts the natural flow and balance of magic. This process can generate unexpected and dangerous results if an Arcanist fails to execute their spells precisely. Some cultures do not allow Arcanist academies or research within their territories because of these dangers.
Mechanics: Arcanists use the expanded Spell-Reader rules found in the Micronomicon published by Exploding Seed Press. They also qualify for certain Prestige Traits that allow them to further specialize their magical aptitude.
