Magic & Casters

Andrus leverages Spell Failure and Concentration specifically focused on Arcane Casters as the result of failing a Concentration test can be dangerous to the Caster and those surrounding them.

Arcane

  • Arcane magic is powered by brute force, rending and twisting the raw energies surrounding all things to produce the desired result.
  • It's possible to lose control while manipulating arcane magic.
  • An Arcane Backlash typically harms the caster and any bystanders.
  • Arcane spell casters are viewed with suspicion and extreme caution.
  • In some cultures Arcane spell casters must be accompanied and controlled by a Domain spell caster.

Domain

  • Domain magic is powered by the philosophies and beliefs of the caster.
  • This type of magic is colored by region, culture and personal traditions.
  • Animism is very common among Domain spell casters as is Ancestral Worship.

Psychic

See Paizo's Occult Adventures

  • Beyond the worship of the divine and the studies of arcane scholars lies the mysterious terrain of the mind, accessed through psychic magic.
  • Classes that draw upon psychic magic do so via innate mental abilities, whether they directly cast spells, create elemental effects, or focus psychic energy through objects.
  • Members of these occult classes find themselves drawn to the strange and the hidden; they have connections to the timeless Astral Plane, the haunted bleakness of the Ethereal Plane, and the history of the Material Plane chronicled as psychic impressions in places and objects.

Psionic

See Dreamscarred Press' Psionics

  • Psionics, in its simplest form, is harnessing the power of the mind and using it to perform tasks, feats, and awe-inspiring acts.
  • It is the act of using the mental power innate in a psionic character to perform actions that others deem impossible.
  • While all characters have the capacity to harness this power of the mind, it is only by tapping into this potential that psionic characters are created.
  • A psionic character has learned to tap into and utilize this internal energy, using it to expand their abilities or even to learn more about themselves.
